Dressed in White

I love weddings!! Weddings are so much fun and such a sweet moment to be able to share with friends and family. This past weekend I got to share in this precious time with David & Laura. I road tripped with Jamie to the wedding and had a blast catching up with her. It was great to see David & Laura commit to live the rest of their lives together honoring Christ in all that they do. :D Such a precious day to spend encouraging our friends in their new life and catching up with other friends.

During the past week I have had a couple conversations with people about wedding pictures. One lady was telling me about her son who was a photographer. He did wedding pictures of the ENTIRE party before the wedding ceremony in order to get people to the reception faster and make things better. A friend and I were talking about this and were completely taken aback. I can't imagine having pictures taken with my groom before my wedding ceremony. There is something so precious about walking down that aisle and my groom seeing me in a white dress for the first time. I think that taking the pictures before would ruin that special moment, yes there would still be that first moment of seeing each other, but I just don't see it being the same. We decided that people these days think that it isn't such a big deal because of the openness and the not preciousness of sex these days. Just a thought, but I would love to know what you think too.

  1. We had our wedding party pictures taken separately before the wedding. The boys did theirs, then the girls did theirs. It still took a long time after the ceremony to get even more pictures, so I understand taking pictures before the ceremony. Plus, most people who take all the pictures before will have a moment where the bride & groom can be alone together. The bride still walks down the aisle to the groom, and then they have a moment together. I've heard that is such a precious time, because they get to calm each other down. (SO much nervousness!!) Chris and I didn't want to see each other before our wedding, but I understand why some people choose to. I think it depends on the couple. If the bride and groom aren't believers, I see where you're coming from, but if they are, I don't think that choosing to see each other before means that they don't think their wedding and the covenant they are entering into is a big deal. I think that is a decision for the couple to make in order to best glorify God, and I believe He will let the couple know what they should do.

    Good discussion starter!
