Old Friends = Hard

I never realized that hanging out with friends could be so challenging! Last night I hung out with some friends that I graduated from the Academy with. These are people that I was really close with.

One of the friends was my best friend during our time at the Academy. My best friend doesn't go to school with me any more and so when she comes into town I love to hang out with her. She called me and said that some people were going to the donut shop and then afterward invited me to hang out with her and our other friend at her house. So I drove to GADS to meet them. We ordered donuts and sat down. We talked about old times and friends and the past as well as what was going on now, when we were graduating, and what future plans were.

During this conversation I had a really bad feeling about things. I was very uneasy about how things were being done in all of their lives. Two of them are not Christians and I have been trying to minister to them for the last two plus years, the other had said that he was a Christian, went to church with me and some other friends when were were all in school together and such, but he is not living a life that is very Christ like right now. I was so disturbed and my heart was breaking for all of them.

When I first met them I was not a Christian and was close to them when I was a new Christian and wasn't living a life that was Christ exemplifying at all. For awhile I have tried to act the same when I am around them. I didn't want to bring down any conversation or not be invited to hang out with them, so I played along with them. Last night I really came to the realization that this couldn't happen anymore. I was quiet and reserved last night because I didn't want to be apart of a conversation that wasn't God honoring.

Needless to say, it has never been so hard to hang out with my friends. I am praying for them every day and going to keep trying to be a witness of the gospel to them.
