Falling into place... - 5/4/09

The past few months have been spent trying to figure out where and what I am going to be doing this summer. I originally thought that it would be going back to East Asia with two of my good friends, then that door was shut right before the first deposit was due. My heart had been set on this and now I was back to square one with trying to figure out where and what I should do. I could move back home and look for a job there or I could stay in Bowling Green and try to work at my semester job or I could look for a new job. Not long after the doors to East Asia were shut when the ones for my current job opened up into a full time summer job. So, that became the plan. I would work in the Testing Center 40 hours a week and I would have a week off to work at HOBY as usual. I wasn't totally excited about staying in BG all summer, but I knew in my heart it was where I was supposed to be, even if I didn't know my full purpose yet.
Today, my purpose became clear to me. I applied a few weeks ago to work with the high school ministry at LHBC next fall and this morning I received an e-mail from Matt asking me what my summer plans were and if I would be able to chaperone a mission trip to Baltimore with the high school ministry. I e-mailed back and forth with Matt and Nora this morning and now it is official. I am going to Baltimore in July for a week with 3 other adults and 20 high school students. I am super excited. :D I realize now that God knew that the high school ministry was going to need some help this summer and that I was going to be able to fill their needs. He put two of my passions - missions and high schoolers - together and is giving me an amazing chance to serve
Trailing off from this summer....
My heart for high school students has continued to grow over this last year. I have served on BCM council as one of the Academy Ministry Chairs and knew that my heart really was for high schoolers. Earlier this semester I applied to work with the high school ministry in the fall, which led to the chaperone position on the Baltimore trip and then earlier I received a phone call from Jeff, the Next Generation Pastor at LHBC, with several pieces of information for me. The first was about the mission trip, then he asked me if I would be able to go to camp with the high schoolers. I wish that I could, but I am already working with HOBY, a leadership camp for...high schoolers!! :D Then he mentioned the possibility of an internship with the high school ministry next fall and invited me to meet with him after finals to get to know me and such :D I am so excited about all the doors that have opened up for me during the course of like 6 hours!
The Lord is truly opening doors and showing me where he wants me to serve. I have a lot to pray about and consider of the next few weeks, but I am super excited and can't wait to see what the Lord is going to make of all these opportunities!!! :D
