My life has been a whirlwind of ups and downs recently. I have been burning the candle at both ends and honestly it has really affected me and my life. I wish I could say that everything has been peachy keen, but it hasn't. I have had some major struggles recently, some little, some big, some old and that I thought were gone, some new and never expected, but none the less, they were all here.
On top of all the things that have been going on in the here and now, I have been having to think about next semester and the things that are to come, what with scheduling for classes and such coming up next week. As excited as I am about all the things that are headed my way, I got slapped in the face with the huge realization that I only have 3 semesters left in college! Wow! It seems like the last 4 have flown by. This being brought to my attention made me continue thinking about the future and what I plan on doing with it and who I want to be. I had dinner and spent time with a good friend yesterday talking about upcoming plans, both for me and for her.
After dinner and some quality time without getting any real work accomplished, we headed to small group and boy to God know what needed to be talked about! We were having a similar conversation filling in the rest of the small group about all the plans and stuff we were thinking about doing. This talk turned into our wonderful lesson about having a faulty focus in life and redirecting things onto the right path. Our small group leader talked about how she had realized she hadn't had a proper focus in her life recently and opened the book, Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow, to a chapter all about having a faulty focus.
She shared this chapter with us! It was a huge eye opener for me. I never would have told you that I thought I had a faulty focus, but God really opened my eyes and showed me that even if I didn't see that my focus was wrong, He had! The book talked about having a purpose in life. Having a purpose statement and making that your focus in life. Our small group leader shared the purpose statement she had written after reading this chapter along with a couple scriptures that guide her through life. Then she challenged us to come up with a purpose statement for our lives that was guided by scripture. I haven't written this statement yet, but I have been thinking about it a lot!
I love how the Lord works, he opens your eyes and shows and teaches exactly what you need to be taught at the PERFECT time! So now instead of worrying and stressing about all the stuff I have to do and all the plans for my future, I am going to step back and reevaluate my life and with His help put my self back in the right direction.
